The OGSA-DAI Software

OGSA-DAI middleware allows data resources to be accessed via web services. OGSA-DAI web services allow data to be queried, updated, transformed and delivered, and can be used to provide data integration services to clients.

OGSA-DAI is contributing to a future in which researchers and business users move away from technical issues such as data location, data structure, data transfer and the ins and outs of data integration and instead focus on application-specific data analysis and processing.

OGSA-DAI...

  • allows different types of data resources - relational, XML, files - to be exposed onto the Web, Grid or Cloud;
  • provides a way of querying, updating, transforming and delivering data via web services;
  • provides access to data in a consistent, data resource-independent way;
  • supports the integration of data from various data resources;
  • allows metadata about data, and the data resources in which they are stored, to be accessed;
  • provides web services that can be combined to provide higher-level web services that support data federation and distributed query processing.
  • is free, open source software, with its own developer community;
  • is 100% pure Java software;
  • can be deployed in standard or Grid-enabled application server environments;
  • supports connection to a wide range of data resources:
    • relational databases MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server
    • XML databases eXist, Xindice;
    • Windows, Linux and Unix file systems.
